How to invoice as a freelancer

  • Spell out the scope. Clear line items prevent "can you just also…" from eating your margin.
  • Take a deposit on bigger projects so you're not carrying all the risk.
  • Add a late-payment note — even a small late fee nudges clients to pay on time.
  • Make it payable by card. A "pay now" button gets you paid far faster than a bank transfer.
